Maybank Expects 100 million Debit Card Transactions in 2018

Maybank expects its debit card transactions to increase to 100 million this year, with more than RM17 billion worth of transactions, 57% higher than the previous year.

Maybank saw a significant increase in the number of debit card transactions, with over 65 million transactions worth over RM11 billion.

Maybank head of cards, group community financial services B.Ravintharan said, Maybank debit card had developed into 8 product variants, with more than 9 million active debit card holders.

He added, “Our debit card usage has similarly been growing over the years, growing at an annual average of 22%”.

Meanwhile, Maybank also launched a 3-month debit card usage campaign for new and existing card holders to win a vacation package with the Debit Brand Ambassadors.

Maybank is the leader in the debit card business with a 37.4% market share in debit card billings.
