The Asia Blockchain Hub will be officially launched under the patronage of the European Blockchain Hub on July 21st, 2018 in a one day conference aimed to kick-start the future of blockchain trending in Europe and in Asia.
The European Blockchain Hub was established on May 9th, 2018 in Slovenia in conjunction with the Declaration of Cooperation on a European Blockchain Partnership signed by 22 European countries on April 10th, 2018.
The European Blockchain Hub has chosen Malaysia as its Asia node, as they notice the enormous potential of the blockchain industry in Malaysia which overtook the rest of the countries within this region. Malaysia has also seen many talented individuals rise high in the blockchain industry over the past few years. Among them are Malaysian-born programmer Matthew Tan, who is the developer of Etherscan; and Booby Ong, the co-founder of Coingecko who is also a Malaysian. The blockchain industry in Malaysia has also been boosted by the NEM Foundation which has set-up their blockchain centre in Malaysia in March 2017 to serve as an incubator, accelerator, and co-working space.
European Blockchain Hub’s advisory member and founder of Asia Blockchain Hub, Rex Yeap said:
“We believe that for any industry to have a long term future, the support of the government is vital. Bank Negara has shown its openness and support by being one of the pioneers in the region to show intention to regulate the cryptocurrency and this has given us tremendous confidence that this industry will be able to go the distance in Malaysia.”
