KUALA LUMPUR, 12 April 2019 – Malaysia will host the prestigious biennial International Statistical Institute World Statistics Congress (ISI WSC) 2019 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 18 – 23 August 2019 for the first time since its inception 130 years ago.
The congress is organised by the International Statistical Institute (ISI), in collaboration with the Department of Statistics Malaysia (DOSM), Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) and Malaysia Institute of Statistics (ISM), and supported by the Malaysia Convention & Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB), an agency under the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia.
This flagship event of ISI, in its 62nd edition, will see thousands of professionals and experts from the industry, academia and policy makers from around the world converge in Kuala Lumpur to exchange and explore new ideas in statistics and network for future collaboration.
A media session was held on 11 April 2019 at Sasana Kijang, BNM, to create greater awareness and invite more participation from Malaysians and international statistical community to the Congress. The session was led by YBhg. Dato’ Sri Dr. Mohd Uzir Mahidin, Chairman of National Organising Committee of ISI WSC 2019 & Chief Statistician Malaysia, Prof. Helen MacGillivray, President of ISI, Encik Marzunisham Omar, Vice Chairperson of NOC & Assistant Governor of BNM, Prof. Dr. Kamarulzaman Ibrahim, President of ISM, and attended by the EXCO Members of WSC 2019, Director of ISI Permanent Office, MyCEB, strategic partners and parties actively involved in statistics.
