KUALA LUMPUR, 27 September 2019 – FWD Takaful Berhad is partnering with a Malaysian social enterprise, Arus Education Sdn Bhd, to enhance financial literacy for students with an emphasis on Takaful awareness.
Primarily targeting underprivileged students of B40 families, “Fun[d] for Life” is a programme that creates a fun, structured and practical way of educating students on financial literacy and infusing skills and knowledge of technology to solve real-life problems.
This partnership brings to life FWD Takaful‘s commitment to educate Malaysians on Takaful through various initiatives and digital technology. It also aligns with Bank Negara Malaysia’s goal to promote, educate, and improve the overall awareness of Takaful protection amongst Malaysians.
“We all have a role in building a better future for Malaysia – where even underprivileged students are given the opportunity to be equipped with financial literacy so that they can go on and make the right choices when they become adults. We want to help them break the cycle of poverty in their families,” said Salim Majid Zain, Chief Executive Officer of FWD Takaful.
“Since our inception, our focus is on helping students of underprivileged backgrounds to provide them with opportunities for quality education. Working with FWD Takaful to teach financial literacy adds another dimension for us to give them the competencies they need to prepare for the 21 st century,” said Alina Amir, Arus Academy’s co-founder.
Fun[d] for Life was piloted with 30 students from Sekolah Rendah Kebangsaan Putra, Kangar, Perlis where they underwent a three-day programme.
