KUALA LUMPUR, 2 October 2019 – After a resounding success last year, the MALAYSIA SME® Congress 2019 is back once again with the 11th edition. The press conference today was attended by representatives of sponsors for the anticipated Congress.
A first of its kind event for the owners and heads of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs), as well as for entrepreneurs, Congress has been attended by over 12,000 delegates during the last 10 years of its run. The MALAYSIA SME® Congress 2019 themed ‘Progressing into Growth’ will be held in Bayan Lepas, Penang on October 10, 2019.
This is the third time that the Congress will be held in a secondary city outside the Klang Valley, the other city being Muar, the Royal Town of Johor in 2017.
“One of the reason why Penang was again selected as the venue for the Congress was the overwhelming response from Penangites. Last year, more than 500 attended the Congress with a 20% increase in turn-up rate from the preregistration which was way higher than the events held in the Klang Valley.”
Lynda Lee, MALAYSIA SME® Advertising and Event director
Over 500 Malaysian MSME entrepreneurs will be exploring fresh vistas, new networks and exciting collaborations at the upcoming Congress.
The Congress is aimed at motivating, inspiring and guiding Malaysia’s MSME community to greater local and international success. Best of all, attendance and participation in the sessions is FREE for MSME business owners.
When asked about if the Congress is modeled for young business owners, MALAYSIA SME® Congress founder, Wayne Lim, stated that they are slowly transforming the Congress to cater to them. However, he highlighted that the Congress will provide fundamentals in business which are essential for all kinds of business whether they are a startup or have been in the industry for many years. In the past 10 years, Lim estimates that around 20% of their participants are made up of young entrepreneurs.
For the first time ever, the MALAYSIA SME® Congress 2019 will include not one but three international entrepreneur-speakers which is a timely inclusion in order to bring a new dimension and perspective to the MALAYSIA SME® Congress.
The list of sponsors MALAYSIA SME® Congress 2019 include Qǔ Exchange, Caltex, RHB Bank Bhd, Tokio Marine Insurance Group, Olive Tree Hotel and Oxwhite.
