KUALA LUMPUR. 6 November 2019 – Two companies in the UMW Group, namely UMW Corporation Sdn. Bhd. and KYB-UMW Malaysia Sdn. Bhd., have recently been accredited by CyberSecurity Malaysia with the International Standard for Business Continuity, ISO 22301:2012 Business Continuity Management System (BCMS).
While UMW Corporation Sdn. Bhd. is an investment holding company, KYB-UMW Malaysia Sdn. Bhd. (KYB-UMW) is a subsidiary in the UMW Group that manufactures and assembles automotive shock absorbers and motorcycle suspension units for both OEM and REM markets. Other than the Malaysian market, it also exports to 38 countries. KYB-UMW is the first company in the KYB Group worldwide to achieve the ISO 22301:2012 accreditation. The certification substantiates that UMW has a systematic management plan developed with the right people in place and a determined readiness to respond to a business threatening incident.
“The adoption of BCMS prepares the UMW Group to be resilient and at the same time assures our customers and stakeholders of continuous business operations even if untoward incidents occur. The ISO accreditation further reinforces that our business continuity plans and processes are of international standards.”
Badrul Feisal bin Abdul Rahim, President & Group CEO, UMW Holdings Berhad
UMW Corporation and KYB-UMW are the first among the group of Permodalan Nasional Berhad (PNB)-investee companies to achieve the ISO 22301:2012 accreditation. To-date, only 20 companies in Malaysia have attained this internationally recognised certification on BCMS.
