PETALING JAYA, 23 March 2020 – The President of the Malaysian Rubber Glove Manufacturers Association (MARGMA), Mr Denis Low announced that MARGMA members will donate medical gloves on an urgent basis to the Malaysian Government to help fight the COVID-19 Pandemic. To date, the Malaysian rubber glove manufacturers have pledged to donate a total of 19 million pieces of medical gloves to Malaysian Government.
The donors include Smart Glove Corporation Sdn Bhd, Top Glove Corporation Berhad, YTY Group, Kossan Latex Industries (M) Sdn Bhd, Hartalega Holdings Bhd, Supermax Corporation Berhad, Comfort Rubber Gloves Industries Sdn Bhd, Brightway Holdings Sdn Bhd, Riverstone Resources Sdn Bhd, Careplus Group of Companies, Latexx Partners Bhd, TEKMEDIC (M) SDN BHD, Ansell, Shield Scientific Sdn Bhd, Intco Medical Group (M) Sdn Bhd, Professional Latex Sdn Bhd, Bonric Sdn Bhd Koon Seng Sdn Bhd, Multisafe Sdn Bhd, Central Destar Sdn Bhd and VIP Glove Sdn Bhd.
The 19 million gloves donation includes also the many batches of gloves donated by their members to the hospitals, police stations and local authorities within their vicinity in the last few days.
Their members were given approval to operate as essential services sector at 50% production capacity. This had led to a shortfall of gloves around the World. MARGMA urges the government to allow the Rubber Glove Industry to operate at 100% so that they can meet the surge in demand for rubber gloves from many parts of the world.
