SHAH ALAM, 23 March 2020 – Coway Malaysia donated 100,000 pieces of 3-layer surgical face masks to Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) in a simple ceremony held today.

The move to distribute the face masks during the two-week coronavirus (COVID-19) Movement Control Order (MCO) period is in line with Coway’s vision of being The Life Care Company, which strives to make the world a better, cleaner and safer place, especially for the police workforce that are dedicating their lives to safeguard our country; to maintain law and order during this challenging period.

“As a corporate citizen of Malaysia, we are doing our part to donate masks to PDRM – to show our appreciation to the Malaysian police force for their sacrifice and contribution during Malaysia’s hour of need. While scientists are racing to find a vaccine for this global pandemic, there has been a shortage of face masks in the midst of the current situation. This is where we are stepping up to provide the relevant support to safeguard our PDRM personnel’s respiratory health as front-liner.”

Kyle Choi Ki Ryong, Managing Director of Coway Malaysia

He added that Coway is committed in their quest to support the Malaysian government, civil society movements and Corporate Malaysia to fight COVID-19 to the very end.

“With the escalating number of cases particularly in recent weeks, our police personnel are at risk as they carry out their duties during this two-week MCO. The most basic yet important necessity they need right now are face masks so they can reduce the risks of exposure.

On behalf of PDRM, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to Coway for their generosity in donating the face masks – giving us the encouragement and motivation to continuously carry out our duties for our country,” says Dato’ Sri Rosli Bin Ab Rahman, Commissioner of Police (CP), Director of Logistics and Technology Department of Polis Diraja Malaysia

With the recent spike of COVID-19 cases in Malaysia, Coway reminds Malaysians that the best way to contain the virus is to avoid coming into contact or being exposed to the virus. It is important to wear face masks correctly to ensure its effectiveness, sanitise and wash hands frequently, observe the MCO strictly while avoiding crowded places, practice social distancing and keep indoor air fresh and clean.
