COVID-19: PruBSN contributes over RM500,000 zakat to MERCY Malaysia

KUALA LUMPUR, 10 April 2020 – Prudential BSN Takaful Berhad (PruBSN) via its charitable investment arm, PruBSN Prihatin, donates more than half a million in aid to its strategic partner, MERCY Malaysia to assist the B40 families and vulnerable communities that are affected by the world-altering pandemic and movement control order (MCO).

Already suffering from the low wages and high cost of living, the COVID-19 outbreak and extended MCO will further impact the livelihood of the poor and hardcore poor families in the B40 and other at-risk groups.

The charitable investment arm has allocated RM500,000 to MERCY Malaysia from PruBSN’s zakat fund to provide livelihood assistance to the families from this vulnerable community.

Concurrently, PruBSN Prihatin is running a donation drive via PruBSN Prihatin COVID-19 Fund to support MERCY Malaysia’s COVID-19 Pandemic mission.

The fund which has garnered over RM8,000 to date, will be channeled to the marginalised and at-risk communities for purchase of essential needs.

Those who wish to contribute can make a transfer until 12 April 2020 to the following account. All donations of RM50 and above will be given a tax-exempt receipt under Subsection 44(6) of the Income Tax Act 1967.
