KUALA LUMPUR, 5 May 2020 – Serba Dinamik Group Berhad (SDGB) and Malaysian Technology Development Corporation (MTDC) inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to foster the growth of digital startup ecosystem in Malaysia, by providing guidance and mentoring to the budding entrepreneurs for innovative transformation.
In a joint statement, they said that both organizations collaboration would enable in assisting the new-age technology startups in the country, focusing on future technologies like Artificial Intelligence, 5G, Big Data, Cybersecurity, Blockchain, Internet of Things and Machine Learning, to leverage digital growth opportunities across its global network.
At the Signing ceremony both parties announced the Launching of The Innovative Transformation Seed Fund worth RM6 million that will encourage newly established start-ups involved in digital or business innovation to commercialize their ideas via a clear business model.
The first ever Virtual MoU ceremony held by both organizations were signed in the presence of Dato Dr. Ir. Ts. Mohd Abdul Karim Abdullah, Group Managing Director of SDGB and Dato’ Norhalim Yunus, Chief Executive Officer of MTDC.
According to Dato Dr. Ir. Ts. Mohd Abdul Karim, the collaboration is the first phase for both organizations to partner in entrepreneur’s development programs mainly in Sarawak and will continue in phases to Semenanjung Malaysia.
He also said the SDGB masterplan has demonstrated great commitment towards strengthening the digital growth agenda by making requisite investments in developing skills, new technologies and nurturing entrepreneurship.
Meanwhile, Dato’ Norhalim Yunus said that MTDC will extend collaboration opportunities to the innovators of Startup in Malaysia to engage with its research and development arms to help generate awareness about digital technologies and inculcate a culture of innovative thinking.
He added that MTDC will also design and develop programmes, including training, knowledge-sharing, developmental programmes and other programmes of similar nature that will benefit the cooperation besides providing knowledge transfer and expertise for the development of technology transfer, commercialization and entrepreneurship.
As part of the comprehensive growth framework outlined within the MoU, MTDC will link SDGB in assisting new-age technology startups entrepreneurs in Malaysia to leverage digital growth opportunities relating to the Proposed Transaction.
SDGB will also be responsible to share ideas and information towards the development of the startup companies and entrepreneurs under MTDC’s ecosystem of the Proposed Transaction.
During this ceremony, Serba Dinamik’s robot named Sarah made her first public appearance as co-emcee for the event.
