KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia Literacy in Financial Education Association (MyLIFE), Max Capital Management (MCM), Money Compass Media, Celik Wang and uLearnMONEY are organising MyMALAYSIA Week 2020. The event will begin on 14 to 20 September and the official launch was held live on the official online platform today.
MyMALAYSIA Week 2020 coincides with this year’s 57th Malaysia Day celebrations, connecting all Malaysians through a platform of financial literacy. Riding on the theme of “Spirit of My Malaysia, Financial Literacy for All”, this event aims to reach out to all Malaysians regardless of age, race, and background about the importance of financial literacy, providing them with choice information and education about how to manage their financial needs, and at the same time foster strong Malaysian unity.
The week-long programme will have a varied series of activities such as webinars, a musical concert and competitions, all held on the SME e-Fair online platform. One of the main events under MyMALAYSIA Week 2020 is the MyMALAYSIA Financial e-Fair, where visitors can visit interactive e-booths by exhibitors from various financial institutions.
Among the other events to be held during the week are the MyMALAYSIA Financial Webinar with sessions in four different languages, English, Bahasa Malaysia, Mandarin, and Tamil; the MyMALAYSIA Financial Literacy Writing Competition which is open to all Malaysians; the MyMALAYSIA Financial Quiz, targeted for university students.
Amy Seok, Founding Chairman of MyLIFE expressed her concern about Malaysians currently facing financial problems, saying “High rates of scams, bankruptcies, and other financial stress are plaguing our ‘rakyat’ especially the young generation and the B40 community. MyLIFE’s initiative began when we realised the current issues faced by our young adults and underprivileged people struggling with financial issues brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“Social changes can only happen through better understanding, raised knowledge, and ethical practice. In the spirit of a united community, this event will lend a positive impact towards nation building as well as empower our Malaysian society and raise their financial knowledge in various ways. With MyMALAYSIA Week 2020, we hope that unity and financial values can be taught and fostered amongst all Malaysians,” added Amy Seok.
While MyMALAYSIA Week 2020 is mostly finance-related, there are also non-finance related activities for various age-groups so as to gather a wider audience and participation such as The MyMALAYSIA Musical Concert, a live online performance by talented musicians from all over Malaysia and will be held on 16 and 17 September 2020 and The MyMALAYSIA Coloring Contest which involves the participation of school students from educational institutions around Kuala Lumpur and Selangor, from kindergarten up to secondary school levels.
To create more excitement for the event, there will also be a lucky draw for those who sign up on the online platform and they will stand a chance to win e-Gold sponsored by Quantum Metals Sdn. Bhd., one of the largest gold bullion distributors in Malaysia.
