PUTRAJAYA – On 6 October, the ‘Majilis Pelancaran Bulan Literasi Kewangan 2020′, or the Financial Literacy Month 2020, was held within the Main Meeting Room of the MOE building in support of the Financial Education Network in conjunction of the National Strategy for Financial Literacy 2019-2023.
The event was inaugurated by Y.B Dato’ Dr. Mah Hang Soon, Deputy Minister of Education. He stated, “The strategies are to increase the financial literacy as well as to foster responsibility within their personal finances. Furthermore, FEN is a step forward for us to improve Malaysia’s financial literacy.” He further emphasized on the importance of the Financial Literacy Month 2020, ”
The four act plan of the MOE are to; expand basic elements of basic financial education within school curriculums for kindergarten, primary and secondary schools while strengthening their financial education through extra- curricular activities, to introduce the developmental ability and support from teachers as well as to encourage participation in financial education within the students, parents and the public community.
The objectives for the Financial Literacy Month under the MOE are to; announce all activities related to financial education as well as heightening the students, MOE members, parents and the public in effective financial management.
Head of Director for Planning and Research of Education, Dr. Haji Mohd Azhar bin Ahmad stated, “The MOE within the Financial Education Network (FEN) carries the responsibility of educating the younger generation towards fundamental knowledge and application as well as to promote good financial values in order to produce responsible Malaysians financial- wise.”
