KUALA LUMPUR – A three-day career fair scheduled from November 28 to 30 2020 is being specially organised to match employers with suitable employees, at a time when most applications, jobs and tasks are being conducted virtually.
Organised by Celik Wang, Money Compass Media, Max Capital Management (MCM), Malaysia Literacy in Financial Education Association (MyLIFE), and uLearnMONEY, the MyMalaysia Career e-Fair stands to be acknowledged as the country’s biggest online career fair, currently.
Ms Amy Seok, Chief Executive Officer of the Money Compass Media Group, elaborated, “The entire business, economic and social scenes have changed since the whole world has been hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many industries have had to close down completely, with employees losing their income streams whilst many are being forced to take drastic pay cuts, too.”
“The unemployed are searching for new job opportunities. No doubt many jobs have been lost and companies going bankrupt, yet there are still industries and companies which have been able to create new opportunities in response to these challenging times.”
It has been recorded in September that the unemployment rate in Malaysia stood at 4.6 percent. This number had improved since May which stood at 5.3 percent, the highest rate in 30 years since 5.7 percent in 1989. The rate is still considered very high and far from the relatively stable unemployment figures which is said to be in the range of 3.2 percent to 3.3 percent, before this year’s COVID-19 pandemic.
“With the theme ‘Helping You to be Employable during the Pandemic’, the MyMalaysia Career e-Fair aims to help many experienced, yet unemployed Malaysians struggling during these times as well as fresh graduates, to find suitable employment and to match their skill- sets and qualifications,” said Ms Seok.
The MyMalaysia Career e-Fair is a condusive, user-friendly platform for both employers and job seekers, supporting all mobile devices and gadgets that allows for convenient and conventional communications. With an estimated 20,000 visitors during the span of the 3- day fair, the MyMalaysia Career e-Fair qualifies to be the biggest online career fair ever organised in Malaysia.
A virtual platform to seek job opportunities, counselling and even job guidance, the event will provide various facilities to visitors such as accessibility to directly undergo online interviews with the selected company and/or potential employer of their preference.
It will also facilitate many direct recruiter-to-job seeker conversations, thereby increasing the probability of selecting the right candidate.
With everything being online, visitors can visit different booths virtually, enquire and gather information, besides befriending new acquaintances right from the comfort of their homes. Participants can also interact with companies and organisations via downloadable content, real-time chat options, webinars and videos so as to explore opportunities of their interests.
“As the pandemic continues to reshape talent acquisition processes, we are increasingly turning to digital hiring solutions. Remote, virtual interviews and job placements are now commonplace, more job applicants are seeking safer ways to connect with potential employers.”
“With this MyMalaysia Career e-Fair, everything will be accessible right at their fingertips and within the safety of their homes.”
“The method of doing online interviews will not only ensure the protection of health and security of all parties but will also be beneficial in terms of being time and energy-saving,” stressed Ms Seok.
A special webinar event will be held on the first day of the MyMalaysia Career e-Fair, entitled “Biar Celik, Jangan Pelik”. To be conducted in Bahasa Malaysia, the webinar aims to elevate and enhance the financial knowledge of Malaysians during these uncertain times.
The “Biar Celik, Jangan Pelik” webinar is to be held via the Zoom Meeting application, will feature local financial experts who will be sharing useful advice and tips.
