KUALA LUMPUR – As part of the on-going efforts to ensure Malaysians are supported in the battle against the pandemic, homegrown e-wallet Boost rolled out two COVID-19 initiatives. The first is focusing on the community with the new in-app booking of COVID-19 Home Swab Test where users can book for COVID-19 test in the comfort of their homes.
The second is leading and coordinating a nationwide aid collection through the re-introduction of ‘Tabung COVID-19 by Boost’. This time, the fund intends to help ease the burden of those in Sabah who are directly and indirectly affected by the COVID-19 outbreak.
The COVID-19 Home Swab Test feature enables users to seamlessly book a COVID-19 test appointment directly from the Boost app and get tested at the comfort of their homes. Certified medical personnel will be present to do the testing. The COVID-19 test offered is a RT-PCR test, which is regarded as the gold standard for COVID-19 testing and is the most sensitive testing modality available in the market.
Users can choose from three packages – Gold, Platinum and Diamond – from as low as RM199. For those that need test results urgently, the Diamond package offers test results turnaround time within 12 hours.
This home swab test is part of the Program Saringan Prihatin (PSP) PERKESO which makes it eligible for a RM150 subsidy claimable by all PERKESO contributors – both foreigners and locals. Application for the subsidy must be done by employers via the PSP PERKESO web portal after performing the test.
The tests are conducted by participating medical laboratories certified and accredited by the Ministry of Health. Currently only available in Klang Valley, the packages are valid for a period of 30 days from the date of its purchase. Users also need to declare they do not have a history of being tested positive for COVID-19 nor been in close contact with a known positive case over the past 21 days upon date of package purchase.
This initiative is part of the #BoostGotYou campaign ‘Stay at Home’ edition launched last month under the ‘Protect’ pillar. The contributions will bring much needed aid to Sabah’s healthcare ecosystem, with practical and important healthcare supplies including ambulance-patient transfer hydraulic stretcher for hospitals and medical frontliners.
Expressing her gratitude, Sabah Health Director Datuk Dr Christina Rundi said, “We appreciate and are pleased by the timely contribution from Boost through the creative use of their e-wallet platform. It is an innovative way that allows Malaysians to support our frontliners in Sabah who are working tirelessly in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic.”
Under the #BoostGotYou campaign ‘Stay at Home’ edition, Boost has created innovative services and solutions for Malaysians to carry out necessary tasks with contactless convenience such as paying bills, prepaid top-ups to stay connected with loved ones, online shopping for groceries or supporting local merchants, staying entertained with games and streaming content, protection through COVID-19 insurance coverage and paying for fuel with Setel directly from the Boost app.
