KUALA LUMPUR – A six-day virtual career fair, organised by uLearnMONEY and Max Capital Management (MCM) with media partners, Money Compass Media and Celik Wang, is scheduled from March 26 to 31, specially organised to help the increasing numbers of unemployed Malaysians struggling during the COVID-19 pandemic as well as fresh graduates to find suitable employment by matching their skill-sets and qualifications.
Supported by the Malaysia Literacy in Financial Education Association (MyLIFE), the 2021 MyMalaysia Career e-Fair, which carries the theme ‘Helping You to be Employable in the New Norm’, is created to be a conducive, user-friendly platform for both employers and job seekers, allowing convenient and conventional communications.
Ms Amy Seok, Chief Executive Officer of uLearnMONEY, said, “The entire business, economic and social scenes have changed since the whole world was hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. Many industries have had to close down completely, with employees losing their income streams when made redundant whilst many have been forced to take drastic pay cuts, too.”
“More than 2,000 hopeful candidates signed up for the event with over 20 different employers also taking part in the Career e-Fair 2020 event last year. The unemployed are searching for new job opportunities. No doubt many jobs have been lost and companies going bankrupt, yet there are still industries and companies which have been able to create new opportunities in response to these challenging times,” she added.
As a practical virtual platform to seek job opportunities, counselling and even career guidance, the event will provide various facilities to visitors such as accessibility to directly undergo online interviews with the selected company and/or potential employer of their preference. It will also be able to facilitate many direct recruiter-to-job seeker conversations, thereby increasing the probability of selecting the right candidate.
With everything online, visitors will be able to visit different booths virtually, enquire and gather information, besides befriending new acquaintances right from the comfort of their homes. Participants will also able to interact with companies and organisations via downloadable content, real-time chat options, webinars and videos so as to explore opportunities of their interests.
“As the pandemic continues to reshape talent acquisition processes, we are increasingly turning to digital hiring solutions. Remote, virtual interviews, and job placements are now commonplace with more job applicants seeking safer ways to connect with potential employers. With this MyMalaysia Career e-Fair, everything will be accessible right at their fingertips and within the safety of their homes.
“The method of doing online interviews will not only ensure the protection of health and security of all parties but will also be beneficial in terms of being time and energy-saving,” stressed Ms Seok.
A special webinar event will be held on the first day of the MyMalaysia Career e-Fair, entitled “Government Agency Assistance and Effort on Unemployment”. The panel talk discussion aims to enhance the knowledge of Malaysians about the actions taken by the government to elevate unemployment during these uncertain times.
All panel talk discussions will be held at the Webinar Hall of the MyMalaysia Career e-Fair website. The discussions will feature experts from local government agencies.
The English webinars will touch on “How to Be Employable in the New Norm” and “How to Recruit and Build Your Team in the New Norm” which will involve professionals and experts from recruitment, training, and Human Resource consultation agencies.
A virtual debate competition will also be organized especially for university students with interesting debate topics to be covered in order to highlight the awareness of unemployment and importance of financial literacy. Participants will stand a chance to win cash prizes worth up to RM2,000.
