KUALA LUMPUR – To promote industrial cooperation between the information and communication technologies (ICT) industries of Taiwan and those of Malaysia, Brunei, New Zealand, and Australia, the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) has been commissioned by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to hold the 2021 Asia Pacific Information and Communication Technologies Industry Online Conference and Seminar on May 25.

“In addition to ICT industry leaders from the abovementioned countries and 20 other potential buyers, the conference will also include five prominent Taiwanese ICT businesses that have won the Taiwan Excellence Award,” said TAITRA in a statement today.

These companies include the following: the internet of things (IoT) and the smart application company Advantech, the network communication equipment company D-LInk, the online learning and education solution provider AVer Information, the surveillance monitoring solution provider Vivotek, and the video streaming solution provider CyberLink which has held over 50,000 online seminars.

“Taiwan’s ICT industry is in a uniquely advantageous position to export various technologies and products because of the nation’s extensive supply chain and well-rounded industrial opportunities.

“Currently, the COVID-19 pandemic continues to ravage the globe. However, cross-industry integration solutions powered by key technologies like IoT, big data, and artificial intelligence are poised for advancement. These systems have been and will continue to significantly alter lifestyles and industrial operations of various countries,” it added.

“Despite the pandemic, Taiwan’s total electronic exports reached a record high of 49.1 billion USD, marking 15.4% annual growth,” said Eva Peng, Director of Taiwan Trade Centre Inc., Kuala Lumpur. She adds that between January and March 2021, exports were valued at 13.2 billion USD.

“The statistics represent a 29.7% growth, compared with the same period in 2020. As a contact-free economy and relevant ecosystems continue to develop the potential of the industry will continue to grow,” she said.

“The seminar will help potential buyers within the Asia-Pacific market gain a deeper understanding of the ICT industry in Taiwan. It will also boost space for buyers to promote relevant products from Taiwan to the Malaysia, Brunei, New Zealand, and Australia markets,” said TAITRA.

Dr. Michael Ho, Deputy Secretary General of the Taiwan IoT Alliance, will be giving a keynote speech titled “IoT Solutions for Building a Smart City” which will be followed by a special presentation on an online discussion session that aims at increasing industrial collaboration.
