KUALA LUMPUR – uLearnMONEY has announced the appointment of Dato’ Dr. TPr. Mohd Yahya Nordin as its Chairman effective from 19 May 2021.

“We are delighted to welcome of Dato’ Dr. TPr. Mohd Yahya Nordin as the first Chairman of uLearnMONEY. We look forward to continue working and collaborating with financial institutions and tertiary education institutions led by our chairman Dato’ Dr. TPr. Mohd Yahya in guiding the uLearnMONEY team to execute and deliver on our goals and mission as the best online financial education platform in Malaysia,” said Amy Seok, Chief Executive Officer of uLearnMONEY.

“I am honoured to be entrusted as the Chairman of uLearnMONEY and looking forward to embarking on this new journey,” said Dato’ Dr. TPr. Mohd Yahya Nordin, Chairman of uLearnMONEY.

“Reflecting on the collaborations that we will have with Perbadanan Tabung Pendidikan Tinggi Nasional (PTPTN), I look back on when I was with the Higher Education Division, Ministry of Education, back in 1996, and we initiated the creation of PTPTN, a fund for students in the tertiary education, which was an idea that we had picked up from our visits to Australia and New Zealand.

“It is unfortunate to know that now PTPTN is undergoing many problems mainly due to the inability of students to pay back their loans which in the long-run will affect the funds needed for students of the future generation,” he added.

Dato’ Dr. TPr. Mohd Yahya said that with the initiative from uLearnMONEY, in collaboration with Pertubuhan Keselamatan Sosial (PERKESO) and local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), one of their efforts to help solve this problem is by providing a job matching platform for unemployed graduates of PTPTN which will ultimately aid them in paying back their loans.

He believes that uLearnMONEY will help graduates in elevating their financial literacy, help them to manage their finances, and become more responsible citizens.

Dato’ Dr. TPr. Mohd Yahya has over 30 years of experience as a civil servant and has held secretarial positions in various government ministries such as Ministry of Home Affair, Ministry of Education (Higher Education Division), and Ministry of Human Resources.

He has also served as Secretary General of the Ministry of Human Resources and Ministry of Higher Education. He brings extensive experience in public administration, training, higher education, policy management, and business development.
