KUALA LUMPUR, 1/7/2021 – As part of its continuous efforts to advance the digital economy to spur Malaysia’s economic recovery, Lazada is joining hands with the Ministry of Finance (MOF) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) once again to support local small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and products through this year’s ‘Shop Malaysia Online’ and ‘Go–eCommerce’ initiatives that will run concurrently from 1st July – 31st December on Lazada.
Lazada‘s ‘Shop Malaysia Online‘ campaign will actively promote local businesses and products on the platform with exciting 50% discounts vouchers and Crazy Flash Sale, along with Daily Free Shipping to encourage Malaysians to shop and support “local” as part of the “Shop Malaysia Online” campaign. While Lazada‘s Go–eCommerce campaign* will help support SMEs on the fence of going digital to flatten their barriers of entry further. On top of the campaign incentives, new sellers will also leverage Lazada‘s enhanced Pintar Niaga stimulus package with benefits worth RM1,500, zero commission and startup cost to leverage the vast benefits of eCommerce on Lazada during the campaign.
“The spread of the global pandemic has undoubtedly affected the economy. We saw local communities playing an active role to spur economic recovery through online consumption, with sales of close to RM130 million during the Shop Malaysia Online campaign on Lazada last year. We are pleased to collaborate with the Ministry of Finance and MDEC once again to provide exciting incentives for shoppers to continue to support local businesses on our platform. We have also been focusing on helping local businesses in their digitalization journey as they continue to navigate through the economic and social disruption caused by the pandemic,” said Darren Rajaratnam, Chief Operating Officer, Lazada Malaysia.
