KUALA LUMPUR – In conjunction with Malaysia Day, Yayasan Prihatin Nasional, Malaysia Literacy in Financial Education Association (MyLIFE), Federation of Malaysia Business Associations (FMBA) and uLearnMONEY is organising the Keluarga Malaysia 2021 from September 14 to 30 on an exclusive online platform, smeefair.com.my/mymalaysia2021.
Riding on the theme of “Spirit of My Malaysia, Financial Literacy for All”, the national-level event aims to teach and raise the awareness and knowledge of all Malaysians on the importance of having basic financial knowledge, regardless of their age, race, and background. Equally important is to promote a united community and foster strong Malaysian unity.
Amy Seok, Founding Chairman of MyLIFE expressed her concern about Malaysians currently facing financial problems, saying “High rates of scams, bankruptcies and other financial stress are plaguing our rakyat especially the young generation and the B40 community. MyLIFE’s initiative began when we realised the current issues faced by young adults and underprivileged Malaysians struggling with financial issues brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Social changes can only happen through better understanding, raised knowledge and ethical practice. Admittedly, this is no simple task but the rewards are gratifying as it stands to elevate Malaysians’ approach towards a better understanding when it comes to financial literacy, particularly amongst the younger generation.”
Keluarga Malaysia 2021 will coincide with this year’s Malaysia Day on 16 September 2021, connecting all Malaysians through a platform of financial literacy. The event will begin on 14 September with the official launch set to be held live on the official online platform at 10 am followed by many exciting and creative programmes thereafter for various age groups.
Being one of the strong supporters and collaborators of the Financial Education Network (FEN), Keluarga Malaysia 2021 is a week-long event with a varied series of activities. One of the main events under Keluarga Malaysia 2021 is the MyMALAYSIA Financial e-Fair, where visitors can visit interactive e-booths by exhibitors from various financial institutions on the SME e-Fair online platform.
Among the other events to be held during the eventful week are the MyMALAYSIA Financial Literacy Writing Competition, MyMALAYSIA Financial Literacy Quiz Contest, and the MyMALAYSIA Financial Webinar, targeted to all students from primary, secondary, and tertiary education levels which will be organised on September 22 at 2pm until 6pm.
“In the spirit of a united community, this event will lend a positive impact towards nation building as well as empower our Malaysian society by elevating their financial knowledge. With Keluarga Malaysia 2021, we hope that the spirit of unity and good financial values can be taught and fostered amongst all Malaysians,” said Amy Seok.
While Keluarga Malaysia 2021 is mostly finance-related, there are also non-finance related activities so as to gather a wider audience and participation. The MyMALAYSIA Musical Concert will be a live online performance by talented musicians from all over Malaysia and will be held on September 16 from 8 pm to 9 pm. The MyMALAYSIA Colouring & Drawing Contest will involve the participation of school students from 50 educational institutions around Kuala Lumpur, Selangor, Sabah and Sarawak, from kindergarten up to secondary school levels. Another interesting event that will be held is the MyMALAYSIA Patriotic & Motivational Songs Singing Contest which has already started calling for submission since September 4.
