KUALA LUMPUR – The journey of an entrepreneur can be daunting indeed, even more so for women entrepreneurs. Often, aspiring entrepreneurs find themselves lacking the knowledge, resources, or motivation to bring their businesses to the next level.

That’s why every year, JCI Lead Tropicana (JCI LT) hosts a New Entrepreneur Championship Conference (NECC) to recognise and equip outstanding entrepreneurs with crucial entrepreneurship skills so that they can thrive in a rapidly changing business landscape.

This year’s NECC 5.0 was launched on April 17 at CO3 Social Office, in Puchong Jaya.

Participants, or nominees, of NECC 5.0: Accelerator Program to Excellence will be part of a 4-month entrepreneurship program. The meticulously designed program consists of 12 training workshops and 90 days of coaching and mentorship, culminating in a grand finale conference where the nominees will have the chance to pitch their businesses to judges and potential investors.

Throughout the program, the nominees will be trained and coached by industry leaders in crucial entrepreneurship skills such as Financial Budgeting, Business Presentation, Business Pitching Skills, Social Media Marketing, Personal Branding, and even soft skills such as Fitness and Health.

In addition to the chance of securing potential investors or strategic partners in the grand finale conference, champions of the NECC 5.0 will also win prizes worth up to RM9,000.

Collaborators of the NECC 5.0 includes media partners – AFO Radio and Money Compass Media; strategic partner – Women in Tech and Max Capital Management; venue partner – CO3; and Alleya Cheng, founder of Soundlife Healthcare, as the ambassador.

JCI Malaysia (JCIM) Area Partnership & Government Affair Director, Tan Jay Wvin, was also present during the successful launching event of NECC 5.0.

Award-winning Project

JCI LT had focused on empowering women entrepreneurs in last year’s 4th NECC that went on to win several eminent awards. These includes:

  • Best of the Best Award 2021 – from JCI Malaysia
  • Best Local Business and Entrepreneurship Program Award 2021 – JCI Malaysia
  • Sustainable Development Award Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth 2021 – JCI Malaysia.

The NECC 2.0 was also awarded the “Best of the Best Project Award” from JCI’s Asia Pacific Annual Convention (ASPAC).

For its 4th NECC, JCI LT focused on empowering women entrepreneurs. The 4th NECC won several eminent awards, including winning the JCI Malaysia “Best of the Best Award 2021”, “Best Local Business and Entrepreneurship Program Award 2021” and “Sustainable Development Award Goal 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth 2021”. In year 2019, it was awarded as the “Best of the Best Project Award” in JCI’s Asia Pacific Annual Convention (ASPAC).

Organising Chairperson, Louise Teh said that NECC 5.0 Accelerator Program to Excellence is their efforts to equip women entrepreneurs with highly relevant entrepreneurship skills in order for them to step up their game and rapidly expand their business.

“The main objective of NECC 5.0 is to help nominees create long term, self-sustainable and positive impact to their communities. This year, we are incorporating Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and we aim to promote them,” she explained.

The SDG goals that JCI LT chose are Goal 4 (Quality Education), Goal 5 (Gender Equality), Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and last but not least is Goal 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

Accepting female entrepreneurs

NECC 5.0 is a platform to empower female entrepreneurs that enables female-led SMEs to bring their products and services to a wider audience pool. Eligibility would be for women-led SMEs that have at least one to two years operation time.

“We highly encourage female entrepreneurs to join because our program is highly beneficial in helping to improve and expand businesses,” Louise added.

The program organiser, JCI LT is an arm under JCI Malaysia – a membership based non-profit organisation comprising of young active citizens between ages 18 to 40. Globally, JCI has over 5,000 local organisations in more than 100 countries with members aiming to invest in the future of their communities through project like the NECC 5.0.

Registrations are open from now until May 6. You may register yourselves here.
