KUALA LUMPUR – The ASEAN Chinese Book of Records and Awards (ACBA) 2022 calls together the Chinese community from all over the ASEAN region to celebrate their success as entrepreneurs via Zoom on June 10.
The virtual launch is just part one of the two-parter event, with the latter Charity and Dinner Gala event set to be held on June 19, at the Kuala Lumpur Shangri-La Hotel from 6pm onwards.
The purpose of ACBA 2022 stems from the core elements which its organizers wish to highlight – the celebration of the legacies and success that contributed to the development of the ASEAN nations.
Event participants from all over the ASEAN region will be getting awards to commemorate their success as individuals and entrepreneurs who are top in their fields.
Additionally, the ASEAN Chinese Book of Records also allows for their success stories to be told in print, a tangible book recording the journey of many other individuals walking on the same path.
Centuries ago, the Chinese community from China packed up their belongings and brought along their families to venture into places they are unfamiliar with. It is through their journey that they ended up in different countries, starting from scratch to build a better future for themselves.
Fast forward to the present times, the ASEAN Chinese community has been thriving all across the region. The thing that they have in common aside from ancestry is their indomitable spirit shown throughout the years.
From Cambodia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Laos, Thailand, the Philippines, Myanmar, Singapore, and Brunei, the early Chinese settlers have made a name for themselves through their spirit of hard work and perseverance, fruits that the current generation are able to enjoy.
During the event, ACBA 2022 organising chairlady Jess Ling explained that the organizers hope to shed light to remind all the ASEAN Chinese community of their intertwined ancestry, all which took the hard path in order to provide a better life for their families.
“Celebrating and honouring the current generation of entrepreneurs is a great way to pay homage to our ancestors’ journey and the hard work of the business owners to get to the top,” she said.
Meanwhile, the ACBA honorary chairman Tan Sri Dato’ Tan Seng Leong said “The ACBA event is crucial to connect ASEAN Chinese-led businesses with their counterparts in other ASEAN nations in order to further develop as entrepreneurs and expand businesses throughout the region.
“With that in mind, more entrepreneurs should take charge and join the ACBA where together, we can be inspired and be an inspiration to the future generation of individuals and entrepreneurs for the development of the ASEAN region,” he added.
During his opening remarks, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Senator Dato’ Sri Ti Lian Ker, said that the ACBA is well-timed as cross border investments are always encouraged by the government.
He explained that this event is an opportunity for local SMEs to bring Malaysian products to the ASEAN region and rapidly increase their export volume, taking advantage of the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) incentives that the government is offering.
“I hope that the young businessmen would seize this opportunity to take their business to another level,” he continued.
