KUALA LUMPUR – The PICKids children’s vaccination programme under the National COVID-19 Immunisation Programme will resume vaccinations for children aged five to level for a total of five days, starting from June 20 until Friday (June 24).
The Deputy Health Minister, Datuk Dr. Noor Azmi Ghazali explained that the vaccination effort was organised in line with the 2022 National Immunisation Week, which began on June 16 with the theme of ‘Perlindungan Sepanjang Hayat untuk Semua’ or ‘Lifelong Protection for All.’
In a statement that was recently released, he stated that the opening of this vaccination is targetted towards parents who are looking to acquire the COVID-19 vaccine for their children who missed the previous rounds.
He added that the Ministry of Health (MOH) is also concerned of the safety of the children who could get vaccine for preventable diseases.
According to Dr Noor Azmi, starting from June 20 and continuing throughout Friday (June 24), parents will be able to acquire the vaccination for their children at health centres that are under the MOH without having to make an appointment first.
However, he explained that vaccine distributions would be based on the stocks of vaccines that are available at the facility on a given day and if the inventory for the day has run out, the parents would be required to return again the following day.
He said that parents who had only recently been aware of the COVID-19 vaccination of those who had only recently chosen to give their children permission to get vaccinated should take the opportunity to do so now.
Furthermore, he added that for children who have reached the age of five, parents are still able to use the MySejahtera application to schedule vaccination appointments, according to the date and location of vaccination of their choosing.
