KUALA LUMPUR – Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) announced the initiation of its next wave of offerings through allowing Malaysians democratic access to expert financial advice as well as planning with low base entry.
In the recently released PNB Annual Report 2021, the company’s president and group chief executive officer, Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn stated that tools would be made accessible to all Malaysian investors through a variety of touchpoints.
The ultimate goal is to establish an advisory process that is centred on fostering a more holistic relationship with the investors, he said.
He said that PNB has democratised domestic investments throughout its 40-year history by providing Malaysians from all demographics the right investment products from minimal starting investments of RM10 and additional investments of RM1.
As a result, he stated that the same idea will be applied to financial advice and planning for all Malaysians, with the belief that each person deserves the optimal mix of investment assets and portfolio.
“We will continue to strengthen and diversify our portfolio judiciously. This will be backed by a rebalancing of our portfolio, further supported by collaborations with several notable fund managers,” he explained.
Additionally, Ahmad Zulqarnain highlighted that the goal was to increase the assets under management with a 4% to 5% growth target annually.
He said that PNB’s mid to long-term strategies aim to extend their portfolios and continue diversification efforts to build a resilient, all-weather portfolio that is capable of mitigating portfolio risks and generating sustainable returns to unit holders.
Furthermore, the company’s transition towards an environmental, social, and governance (ESG) agenda presents large opportunities for Malaysia’s largest fund manager, given the upside potential of firms that would be favourably valued by the markets as they enhance metrics in ESG scoring.
PNM also intends to integrate ESG considerations more systematically in the overall investment process, he said. This would allow the funds to be better positioned to capitalise on emerging opportunities and maximise diversification benefits in achieving the optimal risk-return balance.
