KUALA LUMPUR – A huge part of being an entrepreneur is to manage business capital so that the company’s vision and mission can be realised.
Entrepreneurs would know that it is often not easy to gather the business model needed and sometimes would resort to using crowdfunding as a solution.
For the University Entrepreneurship Challenge (UNIEC) 2022 participants, that is exactly what they are doing in order to raise funds as part of their startup capital.
22 teams from 17 universities are taking part in the competition leg of UNIEC 2022, where they are needed to practice the skills and knowledge they picked up from the workshop sessions mentored by 15 expert business coaches.
UNIEC 2022 Organising Chairlady, Ms Amy Seok, said the participants would use this crowdfunding platform to raise a total of RM10,000 per university that would cover their startup funding as well as other operation costs for the UNIEC 2022.
“We believe that this platform is a good start for these students to understand the nature of crowdfunding and the amount of effort needed in order to build your own business,” Seok said.
Given that not all university graduates are able to secure employment, she stated that the UNIEC 2022 and this crowdfunding platform are both great starting points for the students to be incubated as startups.
“This year’s theme is ‘Navigating and Unleashing the Potentials of Young, Aspiring Entrepreneurs’ and throughout the journey of UNIEC 2022, our objective is to train and inspire these students to become entrepreneurs in their own right,” Seok explained.
This crowdfunding platform is also among the first in Malaysia that uses Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs) as an innovative solution.
“The universities came up with their own NFTs and they are part of the sponsorship packages on the website,” Seok added.

To be a sponsor in the first Malaysian CSR crowdfunding platform, just visit the website here (https://ulearnmoney.com/uniec/sponsorship-packages) and choose the teams or universities that you want to sponsor.
The UNIEC 2022 participants are now in the competition leg of the programme where the winning team gets to walk away with RM10,000.
The teams have to prove to a panel of 16 judges through six different competitions that they are worthy of the prize money.
The competitions would showcase the teams’ talents starting with presentation of their business plans, website page design, social media presentation, promoting their products or services via virtual e-fair stores, and doing offline retail promotions.
For the last competition, the judges will decide which teams show the best team spirit and excel in leadership and cooperation among one other.
The crowdfunding starts now so head on to the website at https://ulearnmoney.com/uniec/sponsorship-packages to support the teams.
