KUALA LUMPUR – Pos Malaysia Berhad has launched Malaysia’s first set of Non-Fungible Token (NFT) stamps with APOM, officially becoming the second postal service provider to have its own NFT stamps in Southeast Asia.

The postal service company stated that the initiative is a collaborative effort between the group and the local retail brand known as A Piece of Malaysia (APOM) under the #EMPATBELAS project for this year’s Malaysia Day.

According to Pos Malaysia, the NFT stamps are limited edition and is available for redemption with a purchase of the special edition #EMPATBELAS Setem Ku set.

The set includes a folder set that comes with a physical stamp sheet with 14 uniquely designed stamps that represents every one of the states in Malaysia.

Pos Malaysia explained that there are 3,000 available stamp sets priced at RM59 that are purchasable either online or at the local post office counters with KL being the first location for customers to purchase, followed by the rest of the country from Sept 12 onwards.

Each purchase would entitle the customer to one out of the 14 NFT stamps, which must be redeemed by Oct 31 of this year.

According to the Pos Malaysia group CEO, Charles Brewer, this collaboration enables the company to penetrate the NFT market and is a significant milestone for the company.

He said that this development allows the company to supplement its traditional postal offerings with a variety of digitised services and products.

Furthermore, the collaboration with APOM also offers the local artists to showcase their ability and talents not just in the country, but globally as well due to the fact that NFTs may be shared or traded abroad, he added.

In a world that is continuously advancing in terms of digital technology, he feels that the project would not only improve interaction with customers but also increase overall efficiency.

He said that as Pos Malaysia has been in business as a postal service operator for more than 200 years, it is the company’s aspiration to stay relevant and future-proof itself so that it can continue to exist for another 200 years.
