NANNING, China, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — From 17 to 18 September, the opening ceremony of the “Dual Carbon” Smart Energy Exhibition and the New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Exhibition at the 23rd China-ASEAN Expo and the 2026 China-ASEAN Power Cooperation and Development Forum were held in Nanning. Nearly 500 representatives from governments, industry organizations, research institutions and leading enterprises from China and ASEAN countries attended the forum, while over 200 representatives attended the opening ceremony.
At the forum, which was themed “Pooling Smart Green Electricity, Connecting ASEAN,” Yang Kun, Executive Vice Chairman of the China Electricity Council, remarked that China and ASEAN have built 16 cross-border interconnected transmission lines at 110 kV and above, with cross-border electricity exchange exceeding 75 billion kWh and green electricity accounting for over 90%. At the forum, the China Electricity Council signed memorandums of cooperation with the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Lao PDR and the Environmental Engineering Association of Thailand to promote deeper and more effective cooperation between the two sides in mutual recognition of standards, technology sharing, talent training, project cooperation and information sharing.
The “Dual Carbon” Smart Energy Exhibition and the New Energy and Intelligent Connected Vehicle Exhibition featured the first-ever dedicated zone for new power systems, bringing together the Hualong One (HPR1000) 2.0, the Guohe One (CAP1400), an “air-space-ground” integrated management and control platform for hydropower dams, energy storage and hydrogen, digital energy, virtual power plants, vehicle-grid interaction and other frontier achievements. CHN Energy has an installed capacity of 408 million kW, with renewable energy accounting for 42%; China Huadian has a total installed capacity of 4.76 million kW in ASEAN. CGN’s 1,000 MW photovoltaic project in Laos and China Datang’s Longtan digital twin project also demonstrated outstanding achievements in green electricity development and cooperation with ASEAN. New energy vehicle enterprises including Guangxi Automobile Group, SAIC-GM-Wuling, Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor and Gotion High-Tech showcased world-leading technologies and products in complete vehicle manufacturing, power batteries, intelligent connected vehicles, components and smart welding robots.
The exhibitions highlighted “AI+ applications,” the “leading enterprises driving smaller enterprises” model, and cross-border industrial and supply chain matchmaking, promoting the transition of China-ASEAN energy and automobile cooperation from product exports toward full-chain coordination in standards, technology, services and localization.
