HONG KONG, Jan. 29, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Organized by Exhibition Group, Hong Kong’s largest public pet exhibition, the “Pet Show 2026” (the Show), opens today through 1 February (Thursday to Sunday) at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre. This year’s Show features nearly 1,000 booths, the most world-renowned pet food and supplies brands assembled in Hong Kong and is hailed as the “Brands and Products Expo” of the pet industry. Visitors can enjoy one-stop shopping for pet foods and drinks, apparel, toys, grooming and cleaning products, health supplements and medicines, cages and habitats, and more, meeting the needs of every beloved companion. Multiple themed zones and rich programming invite all pet lovers to attend with their pets and experience the festive atmosphere of the city’s signature annual pet event.
The opening ceremony was attended by Dr. Bernard Chan, Under Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Hon., Dr. Jackie Yip, Assistant Director (Inspection and Quarantine) of the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department, Mr. SHIU Ka-fai, Member of the CPPCC National Committee and Legislative Council, Ms. Helena Chen, Managing Director of Hong Kong & Macau, Mastercard Worldwide, Ms. Angela Chan, Chairman of Hong Kong Pet Trade Association, Dr. Louis Ng, Museum Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, Ms. Phebe Lo, Chairman of Hong Kong Black Cat Club, Mr. Rex Li, Honorary Chairman of Hong Kong Kennel Club, Mr. Kenneth Wong, Development Director of Life-Med Foundation Group Limited, Dr. Sharon Kwok, Ambassador for Endangered Species, and Mr. Carl Wong, Chairman of Exhibition Group.

In Hong Kong, more than 240,000 households keep pets—over 400,000 animals in total—driving substantial related consumption. With the Government actively promoting pet-friendly policies and streamlining quarantine measures, the industry is embracing new opportunities. This year, the Pet Show is partnering for the first time with the Hong Kong Palace Museum to introduce an ‘Ancient Egypt Unveiled’ cultural experience zone, showcasing the profound bond between people and their pets. Looking ahead, we will continue to foster industry exchange and innovation, working together to build a more inclusive, pet-friendly city.”
“Ancient Egypt Unveiled” Special Zone: Giant “Pharaoh Cat” Debuts
For the first time, the Pet Show is collaborating with the Hong Kong Palace Museum to present a special zone themed after the “Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egyptian Museums” exhibition, featuring a 2.5-metre tall “Pharaoh Cat” installation—a must-visit photo spot this year. In ancient Egypt, cats were regarded as sacred animals and symbols of the household protector goddess Bastet. The zone will introduce artefacts related to the cat deity, enabling visitors to learn about the profound connection between ancient Egyptians and cats. Visitors who purchase tickets or memberships on-site will receive a complimentary “Pharaoh Cat” Lucky Charm*. A selection of the beloved ancient Egypt-themed merchandise will also be available, including the Black Cat Plush Collectible, the Pharaoh Pet Beanie, and the Hekha and Nekhakha Pet Teaser Set. Exclusive educational products, including the Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Young Explorer’s Guide picture book, Pyramid Paper Folding Kit, and the catalogue of the special exhibition “Ancient Egypt Unveiled: Treasures from Egypt Museums” will also be available*. Launching simultaneously on-site and across online platforms, the interactive activity “Searching for Pharaoh’s Cat” offers participants the chance to receive an exclusive, non-sale “Pharaoh Cat” Fan* on-site, allowing the public to discover ancient Egyptian culture while enjoying a new experience that blends pets with history.

“Mantis Mania 2: Walking with the Dragons” Returns Multiple Themed Zones Become Photo Hotspots
The popular live mantis exhibition “Mantis Mania 2: Walking with the Dragons” returns with nearly 50 mantis species. This edition adds more than a dozen new species, including the colorful Metal Mantis, Peru’s largest clear‑winged giant mantis, the distinctive South American Rhombodera mantis, the East African Leopard Bullet mantis—resembling bullets and tree bark—and uniquely shaped A‑genus dead‑leaf mantises. To celebrate the upcoming Lunar New Year, the exhibition will feature the “Dragon Mantis,” whose form resembles the Chinese dragon, giving visitors a rare, up‑close look at these fascinating creatures.
This year’s Show also presents key themed zones and photo spots, including “Retro Goldfish Street” and “Mandy Cat Cha Chaan Teng x Mei Lok Store.” “Retro Goldfish Street” revisits Hong Kong’s classic pet culture, telling the history, evolution, and cultural significance of Goldfish Street, and showcases ornamental fish and related products, with knowledge‑sharing on aquatic plant cultivation, aquascaping, and sustainable fish breeding. Designed with retro neon signage and vibrant colors for an immersive experience, the zone also offers a goldfish ornament workshop to enhance interaction and participation. “Mandy Cat Cha Chaan Teng x Mei Lok Store” blends local cha chaan teng and nostalgic corner‑store elements with adorable cat motifs and vintage décor to create a warm, distinctly Hong Kong ambience—one of this year’s must‑visit photo spots.
