BALI, Indonesia, Sept. 16, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Asia Medical Week (AMW) and the Asia Medical Innovation and Development Forum 2025 officially took place from September 12-13 in Bali with a mission to bring together healthcare leaders from across Asia to strengthen cross-border collaboration and resilience. As a supporting partner, Mindray (300760.SZ), a global leader in medical devices and solutions, joined this year’s summit to help foster dialogue and collaborations between key partners.
Organized by Fudan Zhongshan Hospital, China, and other leading regional institutions, the eighth Asia Medical Week in Bali placed a strong emphasis on collective action to address shared healthcare challenges. This year took the theme of “Bridging Nations, Healing Futures,” AMW 2025 was hosted by the Prof. Dr. I.G.N.G. Ngoerah Hospital (Ngoerah Hospital).
“Indonesia is committed to building a healthcare system that is not only strong domestically but also competitive on the global stage. Our goal is to transform from a country where people often seek treatment abroad into a nation capable of delivering adequate health services at home. This requires readiness of our systems, continuous investment in human capital, and policies that align with international standards. Platforms like Asia Medical Week allows us to learn from one another so that we can accelerate this transformation,” said Budi Gunadi Sadikin, Minister of Health of the Republic of Indonesia.
“Since its founding in 2018, AMW has served as a premier platform of international cooperation focused on innovation and pursuing development together. Returning to Indonesia after six years is a proud milestone for us to elevate collaboration into one that is impactful and future-focused. We look forward to working with partners to chart a new blueprint for a resilient medical cooperation across Asia,” said Yinghong Shi, Vice President of Zhongshan Hospital, Fudan University.
A key outcome was the signing of two MoUs to enhance institutional collaboration between hospitals in Indonesia and China. At the event, Mindray also joined fellow institutions and experts at the forum to advance shared healthcare goals. In line with AMW’s spirit of collaboration, the company contributed to the dialogue by highlighting its four strategic priorities for resilience: Smart Healthcare, Talent Development, Research and Innovation, and Medical Industry Empowerment.
Strengthening Indonesia’s Healthcare Transformation
The transformation of Indonesia’s health resilience system plays a pivotal role in sustaining a robust national healthcare framework, as highlighted under the third pillar of the Ministry of Health’s transformation agenda. At AMW 2025, Mindray aligned its initiatives with this vision, showcasing partnerships that are already strengthening local capacity.
Bringing advanced medical technologies to make healthcare more accessible has been the gist of Mindray’s mission. In Indonesia, this mission is reflected through collaborations with Siloam Hospitals Group and Mayapada Healthcare that have connected critical hospital departments including operating rooms, ICUs and laboratories. These partnerships manage to enhance patient outcomes and allow healthcare professionals to focus on higher-value care while ensuring hospital efficiency and patient safety.
Talent development is another cornerstone. According to the Ministry of Health, Indonesia currently produces only 2,700 new specialists per year, far short of the ideal 32,000. To help bridge this gap, Mindray has launched its “Project 2025” initiative, which includes 14 ultrasound schools across Southeast Asia, including Thailand, Indonesia, the Philippines, Vietnam, and Malaysia. The program is training more than 1,000 young physicians in fields such as obstetrics, urology, and musculoskeletal medicine. In Indonesia, the initiative is being developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health and leading academic hospitals.
Advancing Regional Knowledge and Innovation
Collaboration has long been emphasized as the cornerstone of progress in healthcare, and AMW 2025 once again reinforced that message. Hence during the event, Mindray also spotlighted new milestones in scientific collaboration. In partnership with Jakarta’s Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital (RSCM), the company co-published the Southeast Asia Consensus Statement on Pelvic Floor Ultrasound Standardization, uniting nearly 20 hospitals across the region to harmonize diagnostic practices and elevate care standards.
Investment in Local Production to Empower Domestic Medical Device Industry
Mindray reiterated that industrial capacity is the backbone of sustainable healthcare resilience. Since 2022, its factory in Kendal, Central Java, has enabled domestic production of syringes, infusion pumps, operating tables and docking stations.
In September 2025, Mindray officially opened a second facility in Indonesia, which will produce ventilators and anesthesia machines, essential for life support and surgical needs. This investment expands local capacity, reduces reliance on imports, and supports the government’s ambition to strengthen health resilience and economic growth.
“Building a truly resilient healthcare system requires more than the technology we continue to build. It demands the integration of people, knowledge, and local capacity. Our four strategic pillars represent our commitment to working side by side with governments, hospitals, and communities to ensure that healthcare progress is inclusive and future-ready. We are honored to serve as a facilitator and bridge-builder at this event, with a mission to strengthen collaboration and foster meaningful connections that bring this vision to life,” said Zaiwen Li, Senior Vice President of Mindray.
