SINGAPORE, Sept. 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — A new movement of youth leadership is quietly, but firmly taking root in Singapore. The Next Generation Philanthropy Leadership Program, initiated by the Singapore Good Soil Foundation, is not just a scholarship-based summer camp only open to students admitted through outstanding applications and rigorous interviews; it is a week-long immersive learning journey. Talented students from around the world gather in Singapore to rethink the true meaning of leadership, service, and social impact.
Talented young leaders from diverse countries and backgrounds gathered in Singapore for the Next Generation Philanthropy Leadership Program : a week-long journey of discovery, service and leadership in action.
From Classroom to Community
Program Co-Founder Zack Cao delivered the opening address on the first day of the Next Generation Philanthropy Leadership Program
The curriculum for 2025 continues to revolve around three core themes: Mission, Leadership, and Impact. Zack Cao, a High School Senior student and Co-Founder of the NextGen Program, along with Judy Xu, Kureha Kasahara and Taiga Sanjo returned to the class this year to volunteer as Teaching Assistants, and all delivered speeches, encouraging young learners to engage meaningfully with society, create community initiatives, and shared firsthand experiences in serving the community. Over five days, students faced the challenges of leading change in a complex world through masterclasses by international experts, visits to social innovation institutions, and discussions with policymakers.
Nurturing the Next Generation of Changemakers
At the heart of the program lies the student team project. Each group is tasked with identifying an urgent social issue and creating an innovative, practical solution. Ideas spanned a wide range: from AI-powered mental health tools to bridging educational gaps through technology, companionship, and communication. With close mentorship from leaders in industry, academia, and government, students refined their proposals, tested their assumptions, and presented confidently on graduation day. In that moment, they were not merely contestants, but proof that youth can be both the dreamers and the pioneers driving transformative change.
In Singapore, seeds are being planted in these young people of diverse nationalities and backgrounds: the seeds of a new generation of changemakers. They embody both vision and empathy, seeing leadership not as power, but as responsibility. For all who witnessed the journey, one truth became clear:
The future has already arrived, and it will be led by these young leaders.
Looking ahead, the Next Generation Philanthropy Leadership Program envisions itself as an international initiative that aims to empower young people worldwide. Beginning in Asia, the summer camp will be hosted in different countries and cities every two years, offering youth from all corners of the world the opportunity to be a part of this transformative journey.
