Sinology and China studies in Latin America will play an increasingly important academic role
The 3rd Congress of Latin American Sinologists was successfully held in Lima, the capital of Peru, from September 15 to 17, 2026, local time. Representatives from academic, educational, diplomatic, think-tank and business communities in more than 10 Latin American countries, including Peru, Mexico, Chile and Argentina, gathered for in-depth discussions under the theme “From Dialogue to Convergence: Institutionalization, Connectivity, and Common Horizons between Latin America and China.” The congress forged broad consensus among Latin American stakeholders on advancing Sinology and China studies.
