Leadgene Biomedical Leverages Taiwan’s Precision IVD Capabilities to Deepen Its Southeast Asian Presence
TAIPEI, Nov. 3, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — Taiwan’s precision in vitro diagnostics (IVD) technology continues its international expansion. Leadgene Biomedical, specializing in protein engineering and IVD, is actively accelerating its footprint across Southeast Asia. Featuring its world-first Leadgene® Indoxyl Sulfate (IS) ELISA Kit, the team recently delivered a keynote speech at the 16th Singapore Society of Nephrology (SSN) Annual Scientific Meeting 2026. They also hosted a seminar in Hanoi, Vietnam, and will hold academic lectures in Manila, Philippines, this November. By linking clinical exchanges with local channels, Leadgene aims to expand early chronic kidney disease (CKD) assessment and showcase Taiwan’s advanced medical devices globally.
While CKD remains a major health challenge in Taiwan, do conventional markers like eGFR and serum creatinine miss fatal, hidden risks? At the SSN meeting, Dr. Ping-Hsun Wu, a nephrologist at Kaohsiung Medical University Chung-Ho Memorial Hospital, shared critical insights with Asia-Pacific specialists. Dr. Wu highlighted that indoxyl sulfate (IS)—a protein-bound uremic toxin generated by gut microbiota—acts as an insidious driver of renal decline and fatal cardiovascular events across the cardio-renal continuum.
“Whether before dialysis or in end-stage kidney disease, rising indoxyl sulfate levels correlate strongly with disease progression, major cardiovascular events, and all-cause mortality,” Dr. Wu stated. He noted that Taiwan’s patented monoclonal antibody technology overcomes past testing hurdles, moving this vital biomarker into routine clinical and translational practice.
In early October, Leadgene hosted a seminar at Hanoi University of Business and Technology (HUBT) titled “A Multidimensional Assessment of Kidney Function.” The team demonstrated the biomarker’s role in tubular injury and the ELISA Kit’s clinical applications to nearly 100 local researchers and healthcare leaders. Leadgene Chairman Yung-Chun Chuang emphasized that CKD prevalence exceeds 10% in both Vietnam and Taiwan, highlighting shared needs for early, asymptomatic detection. “Overcoming the technical barriers to small-molecule antibody development completes the traditional testing puzzle, giving physicians an essential tool for patient monitoring,” Chuang affirmed.
Continuing its regional rollout, Leadgene will present to nephrologists in Manila this November. The Leadgene® Indoxyl Sulfate (IS) ELISA Kit holds Taiwan FDA Class III IVD clearance, the SNQ National Quality Mark, European CE-IVD marking, approvals in Singapore and Vietnam, and recent Australian TGA certification. Connecting Singapore, Vietnam, and the Philippines, Leadgene will continue building channels across the Asia-Pacific, Europe, and the Americas to bring Taiwan-developed precision diagnostics to the global stage.
