GUANGZHOU, China, May 11, 2026 /PRNewswire/ — The Malaysia Healthcare Travel Council (MHTC) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Malaysian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MayCham) in China Guangdong Office, a Malaysian business chamber serving corporate communities in South China and the Greater Bay Area, to establish a structured business-to-business (B2B) partnership for healthcare travel. Under the partnership, MayCham Guangdong will identify and introduce qualified B2B partners including travel agencies, insurance providers, and healthcare-related organisations to MHTC, while providing market insights and facilitating direct introductions to corporate decision-makers across the Greater Bay Area. MayCham Guangdong will also leverage its official communication platforms, including its WeChat Official Account and member channels, to promote Malaysia Healthcare initiatives to the Chinese business community. Beyond business matching, MayCham Guangdong will recognise MHTC as a priority collaboration partner, extending invitations to events aligned with MHTC’s strategic interests including keynote speaking opportunities, brand visibility platforms, and business networking sessions. In turn, MHTC will share approved promotional materials and brand assets, facilitate introductions to Malaysian healthcare institutions, and extend invitations for MayCham Guangdong members to participate in key programmes such as Malaysia Healthcare Week.
The collaboration marks a strategic shift in MHTC’s approach to the China market, moving from broad-based promotional outreach to focused, partnership-driven engagement. China remains a key source market for Malaysia Healthcare, with over 120,700 healthcare travellers from China seeking treatment in Malaysia in 2025, representing a 36.2% increase year-on-year”. By leveraging MayCham Guangdong’s established position as a neutral and reputable chamber platform, the partnership strengthens stakeholder confidence and ensures sustained visibility for Malaysia Healthcare within the Greater Bay Area. All joint promotional content and industry engagements under the partnership will comply with Malaysia’s Personal Data Protection Act (PDPA) as well as China’s relevant data protection and advertising regulations, ensuring a transparent and governed collaboration framework.
Suriaghandi Suppiah, Chief Executive Officer of MHTC, said, “China continues to be a key market for Malaysia Healthcare, and this partnership with MayCham Guangdong allows us to deepen our engagement in a more structured and meaningful way. By embedding ourselves within a trusted business ecosystem, we are able to move beyond broad outreach towards building high-quality, outcome-focused partnerships that deliver long-term value.”
“This collaboration reflects our broader vision under the Malaysia Year of Medical Tourism (MYMT) 2026, where Healing Meets Hospitality is not only a promise of care, but a commitment to delivering a seamless and trusted healthcare journey. Through strategic partnerships such as this, we are strengthening Malaysia’s position as the world’s preferred medical tourism destination,” he added.
The MHTC–MayCham Guangdong partnership is part of MHTC’s broader market development strategy under MYMT 2026, which positions Malaysia as the premier global healthcare destination through targeted, high-impact collaborations. Both parties will advance their first joint initiatives ahead of Malaysia Healthcare Week, reinforcing Malaysia’s commitment to delivering world-class healthcare experiences to patients across the region.
