Powering Asia’s Biopharma Ecosystem
According to the 2026 Biotechnology Industry in Taiwan white paper, Taiwan’s biotech sector generated a record NT$830.1 billion (US$26 billion) in revenue in 2025, with 155 public biotech companies exceeding NT$1.59 trillion (US$49.8 billion) in market value. Fusing precision manufacturing, ICT infrastructure, PIC/S GMP compliance, and global regulatory alignment, Taiwan provides a strategic gateway to accelerate drug candidate translation and scale regional commercialization.
Cross-Border Alliances and Commercial Milestones
- Forging High-Impact Alliances:Bora Biologics enabled the commercialization of RAPClot™ technology in Japan through a long-term supply agreement with Q-Sera for integration into Terumo’s supply chain. Meanwhile, TFBS Bioscience (Taiwan) and TOKIWA Bio (Japan) entered into a strategic partnership to establish a solid foundation for the quality and safety of novel therapies, integrating TFBS’s biosafety testing with TOKIWA Bio’s Stealth RNA Vector (SRV™) Technology and human primary cell banks.
- Accelerating Market Expansion:LaunXP Biomedical established a subsidiary in Kumamoto for drug development in Asia. Through its Japanese partner, Steminent submitted an application for manufacturing and marketing approval of Stemchymal® to Japan’s PMDA.
- Advancing Clinical & CDMO Breakthroughs:UnicoCell completed Phase III patient enrollment for ELIXCYTE®-OA, published Phase I/II clinical data for ELIXCYTE®-CKD, and received U.S. FDA Fast Track designation for the CKD program. GWO XI Stem Cell secured TFDA approval for two MSC Phase III trials for chronic stroke and knee OA, offering one-stop CDMO services supported by US FDA DMF-registered cell lines and PIC/S GMP facilities.. Additionally, LumiSTAR is participating in Takeda’s COCKPI-T® program, pairing human iPSC-derived 3D organoids with LumiRDT® real-time functional bioimaging to accelerate drug development.
